The Signal Is in the Paperwork
SpaceX filed its S-1 last week.
Buried in the footnotes: Anthropic is listed as a contracted customer at $1.25 billion per month through May 2029. That’s $40–45 billion over the term, depending on how you count the ramp period. It’s disclosed because SpaceX needed investors to see its AI segment as a real revenue business.
Then the CEO went on X and called it a 180-day lease. Short-term. Cancellable. No big deal.
One of those statements is a tweet.
The other is a signed legal document submitted to the SEC during a quiet period — while actively marketing a security to investors.
The narrative is what someone needs you to believe.
The paperwork is what they’re legally willing to sign.
